Shannon McLin is a former law clerk from the Fifth District Court of Appeal and Melissa Alagna clerked for the Fourth District Court of Appeal. The Florida Appeals team also includes two retired appellate judges who are former chief judges of the Fifth District Court of Appeal.

Florida Appeals Founder Shannon McLin handled more than 200 appeals as a law clerk at the Fifth District, in all different areas of law, giving her an insider’s view of what happens when an appeal goes up to the appellate court. A law clerk reads the initial brief, the answer brief, and the reply brief, and then writes a memorandum of law to the panel of appellate judges. The clerk then makes a recommendation to the panel as to whether or not the panel should affirm or reverse the trial judge’s decision.
